Unchained pushes relentlessly for social, policy and legal change to end forced and child marriage in the U.S.
Unchained leads a growing national movement to pass legislation and update policy in every state and at the federal level to eliminate marriage before age 18. Unchained also works constantly to educate policymakers, service providers and the public – including through Chain-Ins, a form of peaceful protest/performance art Unchained invented, at which participants wear bridals gowns and chains to demonstrate what life looks like for those who are forced to wed.
Through these methods, Unchained focuses national attention on forced and child marriage and drives conversations about why and how to end these abuses.
